Default Wacom Intuos 4 and Revit 2011 Properties drop-down not working

Since installing Revit 2011 I notice that using the Wacom Intuos 4 pen to click on the drop-down list in Properties (the one at the top of the new Properties box) the list would not drop down most of the time, but worked OK with a regular mouse.

If anyone else has come across this as a problem, a solution I've just discovered is to, in Wacom tablet properties, set the 'Tip Double Click Distance' to OFF.

No idea why it works, but it seems to

    Nice find William.

I had kind of given up on it and had resigned myself to selecting the edit type button and changing the element there.

So much nicer now that it is working again.

    Thanks

    Ian

Glad to hear it worked for you too Ian

I came across the tip last year on the Wacom forums but only now thought of applying it to this particular problem.

Wacom drivers have a poor reputation which is strange considering the quality of the hardware.

    Good morning.
Returning to the subject. Could you tell me which version of the driver you use?
I recently reinstalled the latest version of the driver and your advice does not work.
    Thank you very much

    Hello and welcome,

I am using the latest international Wacom driver (6.3.4-3 I think) and you are right, it does not work properly or at all.

After first starting Revit the Wacom pen does not make the Type Properties drop-down list appear but eventually (time varies) it does start working but there is a hesitation before the drop-down list appears.

The curious thing is that I am using a Wacom touch tablet now and it is only the Wacom pen which has this problem with the drop-down list - using touch (i.e. a finger tap) makes the drop-down list work every time.

    Weird.

Thanks William, you're right: sometimes works. I do not want to bother more but there is another question. When you place a standard mouse over an item displays a label identifying it. With the Intuos pen this label appears intermittently which is fatal. It's that right? Thank you very much again and kind regards.

    It's no bother

I think the intermittent appearance of the label when hovering the cursor over an object is due to pen movement - from your hand - it is almost impossible to keep it sufficiently still.

I have not found a solution to this (other than using a mouse or the touch tablet).

The touch tablet is a lot better than I expected - using fingers is not quite as good as an Apple Magic Trackpad but still very good.

When the pen is close to the tablet the touch feature is temporarily disabled, which is rather clever.
