Default How to approach single line schematics (riser diagrams)

How is everyone handling doing riser diagrams? I work on pneumatic tube layouts and need various colors to represent different zones. We have an extensive library setup in cad but I would like to eventually do everything in revit but from what I've seen so far it seems like the riser will still be better off being done in cad.

Would it be better to use generic annotations and draw it in a drafting view or use a generic model? I've played around with both and I see some pros and cons to both but haven't been using revit long enough to know if one would be better than the other.

Thanks for any input from your own experiences.

I do our power distribution riser in revit. Ive gone ahead and made annotation families for our riser components so its just the same as in cad. Our template has a drafting view setup for the riser diagram. It will probably take you a little longer to draw in Revit until you get the hang of it.
    Thanks.

What kind of functionality do your tags have? Do you use the note block at all? One thing I couldn't figure out was how to change the color. It looks like filters only work on model elements. Maybe I'm using the wrong items but I'm not able to snap the lines to where I want to.
