Default Poor tiff image resolution - Again!!!

    Hello,

Not too long ago I posted a problem with FDO images. I figured out that resolution problem. Now I have a drawing where I inserted an aerial photo with the map/image/insert command. I have the exact same problem again! Awful resolution! Same image inserted as a FDO looks fine. But I can't use it that way because it needs rotating to match the surveyor data.

Image density in mapioptions was set to 300 pixels per inch. I upped it to 1200 and got no difference. Messed around with all the image settings I am aware of with no luck. I have been using images inserted this manner since 2005 with no problems. I have had this issue ever since upgrading to 2011. Anyone have an idea what the problem might be? Both screen resolution and print resolution horrible. The attachment is a 1m resolution NAIP aerial, which should look better than it does.

Yea, get the surveyors to survey in a known coordinate system.

    I know, I know !!!!!!!
I have to do the same thing, they have million dollar equipment and every survey starts out at 5000,5000.

Funny. This particular surveyor is actually trying to survey all my stuff in State Plane Coords. But somehow his data is always rotated a little, he isn't getting it quite right. But my problem, aside from the surveyors, is with the poor image resolution in the display. Same images inserted in the same manner used to appear quite clear. Now they don't. Sometimes they print with higher resolution than apears on the screen, sometimes they don't. Is anyone aware of some other way to manipulate image resolution on the screen with inserted images to make them display at the resolution at which they are capable?
