Need help controlling miter angle

My block has mitered ends on it, and I'd like to be able to pull one corner of the miter to a new position. Both ends need to work independant of each other. The linework along the miter edge is constrained as colinear. I was hoping a linear stretch on the corner point would do the trick, but I cannot get it to work. Am I going at this the right way? Whats the trick to make this work?

I would like to help but as an LT user I cannot work with Constraints. Seems to me that the Stretch Action though needs to extend down to the top line on the lower bar. Again without experience with Constraints that's a guess.

Thanks for looking. Will post on the Autodesk forum as you suggest.
I thought constraints would be the better way to do this. Seems like it would be tough to do without them.
