    Default ROOF RIDGE CAPS

Hi everyone.. Please I was wondering if any1 could help me out with creating ridge caps on revit roofs.. I realised that after creating a roof by footprint.. the roofs come off without a ridge cap .. Making it look a little unrealistic.. Can anyone pls help me out.. I'm in a fix.. Do I have to model it out in place or.. does anyone hav a roof family of some sort.. pls help..

Are you a student or a professional?

There's an interesting work around that is incredibly simple. Duplicate your roof, raise it up 1-2 inches, and then use Model Vertical Opening, or whatever it is called, and cut away the roof you don't want. Offset from the ridge by a few inches or whatever looks nice on both sides.

    Hold off on that work-around.

There is one on RevitCity that is level-based and a bit 'clunky'. (Search there on "ridge tile".) I recently took that one and converted it to a lined-based (i.e. workplane based) family and it works pretty well.

As soon as I locate that one, I will post it here.

As I recall this is comprised of more than one level of nested families, but it is easy to dive in and change the basic profiles used. Materials, too.

In the project shown I used the one from Revit City. It was at the project's close out that I finally found the time to re-vamp. Now I'm all set for the next one. If you have any questions, contact me via email at hollandajay@gmail.com.
