I am working on a multi-level building, and I'm currently working on the second level. For some reason when I run the duct command Revit wants to connect to duct on the first level. Is there a way to keep this from happening?

do you mean you are trying to connect to a duct riser?
No I am running duct, above ceiling on the second floor. If there is duct that may run directly underneath it on the first floor the duct I am drawing tries to connect.
Change your view range to be above the First floor duct in the view you want to draw the second floor duct in. Snaps could be grabbing the MEP object if it can see it.
yeah, it probably would help to have your view range isolated to one level. also, make sure your duct offsets are associated w/ their correct level. And, if you do need to show the 1st level ductwork while drawing the 2nd level and there is some overlap you may try turning off "automagically connect" while drawing so that it doesn't try to make connections.
