We´ve had a problem modelling parts that has different shapes in different assemblies.
When I ask my Authorized Autodesk dealer that we use for support they have no clue how to handle this problem. But I feel that we can´t be the only once dealing with this problem.
To make the problem clear I will take the most obvious part, a label.
When modelling a label for a certain product you can make it the shape of
the surface it´s supposed to stick on. But the problem is when the same label
is to be used on another product with a different surface shape. Then you
have to make new modell of the same label.
Lets just say that this i ok for now. You name the different parts with article number
and a underscore.
When you are about to change this label you can have 20 modells to change to make the change fall through everywhere.
Some might say that an iPart is the answer for this problem, and it would be true if the iPart didn´t generate a bunch of new small files and you were to put them into a PLM system as the same Item.
Most PLM systems, including Teamcenter that we use, don´t allow more than one modell, part or assembly, per Item. Becaurse of this every single iPart file och every single modell of the label has to have it´s own item with it´s own Item-number and therefor has to have different articlenumbers.
The one label we put on all our products now has a differens article number for each product we produce.
I´ve tried iLogic parts to make this work. But as soon as we have to put two parts in an assembly, say a cablestrap, that has different shapes in the same assembly it doesn´t work.
Is there any thoughts about this problem??
How have you solved it??
I´m very greatfull for all the help I can get ...
