    Default Shafts

I have a new shaft placed in my model that is showing up in my demo plans. I am unable to select it in the demo views, but I can in the New Construction views. It has the appropriate filter and phase labeled for New Construction. How can I get the shaft to stop showing up in my demo plans? Thanks.

    Welcome to the forums!

Not sure without looking at your file, but it sounds like you are experiencing a standard Revit behavior. In order to place a shaft through existing floors, part of those floors needs to be demolished. Similar behavior happens when you add a new door into an existing wall.

    Hope this helps,

need to add some floor area inside a shaft. i am finding that revit is automatically cutting all floor slabs in my shaft. is there a way to specify elements that do not get cut. i tried uncut geometry, but it wont allow me to select the shaft opening? any other solutions?

    Question Re: Shafts

So you have a shaft with parts of floors sticking into it? In that case don't use the shaft tool at all. Just set up some reference planes as guides and modify the floor boundary lines on each level.

The shaft tool is really more intended for a series of penetrations through multiple levels such as stairwells and elevators. For simplicity's sake I wouldn't use a shaft element on a building 3 stories or less imho.
