Default Making pipe connections when editing a model

Hello I am new to the use of autocad MEP. I am working in 2011 and 2012 on a project and I need some help on the steps for editing a model and reconnecting pipes. I have the model and it has been coordinated with the other trades but now I need to go in and edit it to resolve the remaining conflicts. What steps do I take to reconnect the pipe runs?

Here is a link to get you started: http://exchange.autodesk.com/autocad...efbd9-7960.htm

This gives you the basic information regarding the Duct Grips and how they interact within the model. From your request I am assuming this will not be enough information to really get you rolling as I think you are completely new to AutoCAD MEP. If you need a little more help, explain what it is you're trying to accomplish and I can try my best to better explain how to approach the best way to design using AutoCAD MEP objects.

I have a 3D model that has come from the engineer. I am now working on the coordination of the file for field installation. I ran my clash detections in navis works and now I need to make adjustments to my plumbing systems water, lab gases, ect. In some cases I need to lower or raise the elevations so I am trying to figure out the steps to execute this. I am also trying to figure out how to insert elbow connections on a pipe without Autocad thinking I intend a reducer fitting. I have tried to insert an elbow and it is giving me a list of reducer fittings. And yes I am new to MEP. I am self training currently.

    Here are some tips:

    1. Create multiple viewports and get accustomed with utilizing the UCS and OSNAPZ tools when modifying your HVAC model. Here's a screenshot of my Viewport setup: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/4989089/Imag...12/Capture.PNG

This will help you tremendously when you need to raise or lower ducts, re-route ducts, etc. It'll take some time but you'll gain efficiency the more you use a setup like this.

    2. You should get out of the habit of of "inserting" fittings. Under Manage > Duct Preferences tab on your Ribbon, you'll notice the Parts tab. Here is where you can preset routing preferences that will aid in the automatic placement of fittings, etc. Obviously from time to time you'll need to "Insert" fittings and what not but it should be minimal.
