We used an add-on software from New Horizon Technologies (NHT) for symbols, steel shapes etc. but have found that they have gone out of business. Does anyone know of a 3rd party add-on that would do anything like this?

That depends a lot on what you need. Better definition of what you require will yield better results both in Google/Bing/whatever and here.

The software that we have been using was called NHT (New Horizons Technolgies) and had numerous categories. Architectural - doors, electrical, furniture, etc.: Eelectrical - Fastners - Geometrical Tolerances - Hydraulic - Pnuematic - Isometric Pipe - Piping - P&ID - Instrument & Controls - Structural - Welding and Standard (North arrows, Section & Detail callouts, etc.). While we can get some things from the content center there are still symbols, such as Hydraulic, Pnuemeatic and Instrument that we need for diagrams. So that is the kind of software that we are looking for.
