    Default Electrical Circuits

I cant figure out what is wrong with my circuits hopefully someone can help me out here.
i have a circuit connecting 4 duplex outlets to a panel. it is a 120/208 panel and the outlets are 120v each. i am trying to get them to produce 100W on a 15A breaker. right now revit is calculating the full 15A for each outlet making it 1800W(120x15). can anybody tell me what im doing wrong.

the end result should show on the panel as all 4 outlets taking up 400W on the 15A breaker instead of 7200W on a 15A breaker

Does your receptacle family have a Load, Type Parameter? by default in my template the Load is set to 180VA which you could change to 100VA.

I am not an electrical engineer, so please forgive me if I am getting my power (W) and my apparant power (VA) mixed up here.

Open the receptacle family, select the electrical connector, and see what value is in the Apparent Load Phase 1 parameter. This system parameter needs to be set equal to a family parameter or a shared parameter if you want to be able to change it within a project.

Also, set the load type to "Power - Balanced" as well. I agree with TJP, your family is probably not linked correctly.

Interesting. I set my receptacles to unbalanced, since the circuit will only be connected to 1 phase in the panelboard. Although for this type of device it probably does not matter.

All "balanced" does is distribute the load over the three phases evenly. If there is only one pole, which is the case with a receptacle, it just puts it on that one pole.

With the exception of panelboards and what not, I have yet to have an instance where I needed to specify the load on each individual phase for a three-phase load. I always just use balanced.

I believe (but have not yet had time to test) that balanced versus unbalanced determines whether or not a neutral wire is included in the circuit.

I believe the number of wires is set by the Distribution Systems setting under Electrical Settings. Though looking at it, that is probably not always correct because you can have a 3W and 4W circuit on the same panelboard...
