    Default Cutting Structural Beams

    Hi all,

I want to mitre the end of a PFC so I thought that I could use a void and cut geometry.

My problem is cut geometry will allow selection of the void by not the PFC. The void is being made as a structural framing category. I can choose for the void to cut the adjoining roof but not the PFC which I thought was odd as in the past the family categories of the void and other object had to be of the same family category for it to work.

The PFC family is one that comes with Revit.

    I am using Revit Building.

    Thanks,
    Rob

You can mitre the end by using a void in the family editor.

Or - As I just discovered from another post - you can use the Opening By Face tool to modify ends of beams. Using this to make cuts on Timber Framed Beams. Very cool.
