    Default Demolition Plan Space Tags

A Project has the two basic Phases: Existing and New Construction, as defined by a Linked Architecture file. We need to show the proper Space Tags on our Demolition Views, but Rooms/Spaces do not have a Phase Demolished parameter. So...

Our Demolition Views are setup with the necessary Phasing:
Phase Filter: Show Previous + Demo, Phase: New Construction
Everything show up correctly except that the View is showing the Spaces from the New Construction phase.

Our current "solution" is to create a specific Demo Space Tag View (set to the Existing phase) to overlay on the Sheet. I am seeking a more practical solution that does not involve the creation of an additional phase for Demolition. Thanks.

Here are some thoughts, don't how much they'll help.

If you haven't already done this, you might want to get the Phase Settings from the linked file with "Transfer Project Standards."

Then on a Demolition view, with the view settings set to existing and demo, try creating spaces. If the architectural model has rooms that are existing (and demolished), I think that those phase settings should carry through to the spaces. This might be why you can't change the phase settings for the spaces, if they take the phase settings of the rooms they're tied to.

Otherwise you might have to make an annotation family that looks like your Room Tag and manually enter the room names and numbers, then use those to populate your demo sheets. Probably less cumbersome then overlaying views on a sheet.

Hope this helps. I know things get weird when you start working with existing, demo, and new phases in Revit.

This is a persistent issue which is causing some lasting headaches. I'm confident that there is no solution to the problem presented in the original post. But, we can't be the only ones that show Room Number/Names on Demolition Plans, so I am inquiring as to how others are going about accomplishing this. Thanks for any responses!

OVerlaying an additional view with nothing but space tags visible and using a dumb annotation family are the only two solutions we've seen. Mostly we've just given up on showing the room/names numbers on Demo sheets and put a note to refer to ARCH for room names/numbers. Like many other things Revit MEP, all of the solutions are unwieldy and less than ideal.

Alright, then. Seems that overlaying a separate 'existing Room Tags' View is the best way (which is what we've been doing). Now only if they had a 'display order' for the Viewports, then when unsuspecting users right-click and then activate the View, they are not absolutely confused about their inability to select any elements (because they've actually activated the Room Tag View, of course)!

I believe spaces and rooms only exist in a single phase, I don't know if you can change their phase explicitly, but they take on the phase of the view you use to place them.
