Angry Revit: Items showing up on all floors that shouldn't be

I don't know if this is the best spot to post this question or not, but here it is:
I am working on a project that has a referenced revit file from an architect and I am placing some objects and for some reason I can see those objects on all three floors that are in the project.
Example: I draw a wall on the first floor plan and then I place a wall based tv mount and then I place the tv on the mount. I then go and hide the reference wall that I created so that the mount and the tv is all that is visible of my stuff. I finish with floor one and move on up to floor 2 and I can see everything that I drew on my first floor. Why is this happening?

View range would be my first check.

Do the views have underlays of other levels?
    View range and/or wireframe views.

I think I made a typical novice mistake, I didn't change the height to my reference walls so when I would go to another plan I would see it then delete it. I also placed objects based off of the wrong floor (don't know exactly how I did this) and I would delete those too. I started over, realized my mistake and set a reasonably wall height and that has fixed all of my problems.

    .
Oooo! That sounds like a nasty little endless loop!
Just for future reference, when placing walls Revit will default the Base Constraint to the level of the view you are in. i.e. if you are in the level 3 plan view then the base constraint will be set to Level 3.
The top offset will default to the last used value e.g. if you are in a Level 1 view and set the top offset to Level 2 (the next level up) then you move to level 2 Revit will set the top offset to level 3. If level 3 doesn't exist Revit will set the Top Constrain to Unconnected but the unconnected height will be the last level to level height.

For some reason the project that I was working in would not recognize the top of the wall constraint at level 2 when I was working in the first floor, on each floor the top of the walls were unconstrained. One reason why I was so confused is that the walls I drew on the 2nd floor would only show up on the 2nd and 3rd floor and the same thing on up. After of hours of messing with it I realized the top of wall constraint and tried to set it to stop at the floor above, that wasn't working, so I just gave my little dummy walls a height of 10'. Fixed my problem and now everything is showing up properly.

Furniture is a model item, and would be expected to appear in all plan views of the level on which it was placed, unless the furniture category is turned off or the individual objects are hidden in the view.
