Exclamation Viewport border disappeared and cannot select viewport anymore

Has anyone ever had the viewport border disappear? The viewport is showing. We can still double-click in it to activate it but the border around it is missing. All layers are on, unlocked, and unfrozen. I have no idea what layer the viewport is on because when i paperspace I cannot select it to tell. This is an ACAD 2014 file.

You can use the FILTER command while in Paperspace to select the viewport, and then LIST to see what layer it's on and decide what to do with it.

It is possible that the viewport is on the Defpoints layer, which is tied to layer zero (0).
Try thawing, unlocking, turning on Defpoints layer and layer zero and see if you can select it.

If so, then I/we suggest placing viewports on another appropriate layer and set it to noplot.
Suggested viewport layer name (per NCS): "G-ANNO-NPLT"

I just re-read your post, this may not be the issue, but worth a check

On that layout in paper space check one more time that all the layers are on, unlocked, and unfrozen. Try Quick Select » Object type: Viewport Properties: On » Ok

What I see frequently is a viewport being created exactly over the corners of the titleblock, making its re-sizing difficult, and hiding the border, obviously.
    Good luck.

Like previous post stated if the limits of your vport match the sheet border or other line work it will always be 'behind' in the draw order. Do a left crossing selection then look under the selection pulldown (top of the properties menu box) to see if your vport is listed. If it is, move whatever is hiding it then resize your vport so you can select it.

    Good idea,
but instead of moving whatever is hiding the viewport, you can filter to just the viewport selection (while in the properties menus box) and resize it.
