Default Model In Place Structural Foundations

    Hello,

i am building the structural model from an autocad file. I have a lot of different dimensions isolated foundations so i tought creating models in place and drawing the geometry of the foundation and then extrude.
How can i do that? Is there any other way like creating a family that enables to draw and to change the depth afterwards.

    Thank you in advance.

    Welcome to the forums.
I would avoid in-place families. Depending on the number of sizes (length x width) that you have I'd place all the foundations and then change types for each thickness after you place them. The family could have either type or instance parameters for the length x width and type parameters for depth.

Have you looked into Foundation Slab? (Home Tab > Foundation Panel > Slab pulldown > Foundation Slab.)

You'll be able to create a type of Foundation slab for each thickness that you need. Then the (plan view) shape is handled with a sketch line. This tool will allow you to draw foundations that are not square or rectangular.

The only time I would use in-place models in foundations is for Pier Voids. Otherwise I tend to stick to Isolated and wall footings. Foundation slabs as needed (Only if they are not rectangular) or large isolated footings.
I've only ran into one spot on a project where I actually needed to use in-place models for the actual footing.
