Default using fields to label equipment residing in an xreferenced drawing

Around 2006 a great article was published in one of the magazines giving very clear directions on using fields to label equipment residing in an xreferenced drawing.

If anyone has a copy of, or a link to, this article I would appreciate it.

Failing that, does anyone know the procedure?

    Thanks

Hi Mitch, as I understand, you want to "label" the equipment(s) that is inside your xrefs using fields (so when you update the block inside the xref, the label will automatically update)?

I do not have an answer, but say there is a work-around using fields, it will be tedious work if you had plenty of those equipment(s) (unlike in Revit it is easy to tag / label a family). Because you will need to Insert/Field in every single item.
