Revit - View grids + levels in 3D view

Hi,

Here's my wish for the next release of Revit: To be able to view level and grid lines in 3D view

Thanks in part to working extensively with Google Sketchup, I now do most of my modelling in the 3D view. I've always been bothered that you can't turn on the grid lines and the levels in that view so that you can know where exactly in the building you are.

The weird thing is that Autodesk has already incorporated this interface into Vasari, and it is a great start. The Revit group should get some pointers from the Vasari developers, who nailed the 3D interface.

Vasari is a testbed...so one might conclude that such things will make their way into the platform. That's the hope anyway.

As a workaround, people have created families to define 3D grids, various forms have been shared either here or on a blog or two. I don't recall anyone tackling the same thing for Levels, perhaps because they are a little more "obvious", there are usually floors or roofs on them.

Navisworks 2013 has the ability to show grids and levels in its environment based on a natively imported .rvt file format. So there is progress on various fronts. This is a patient person's game...
