Default 2013 hatch boundary lines - stealing and changing lines

I installed 2013 since I was having a problem with the properties dialgue in 2012 and solution was to do an install to fix it. So in went 2013.

2013 seems to behave strangely with the hatch command.
Hatching a closed area seems to, occasionally, change the layer and colour of the boundry lines, to those of the hatch being created.
Hatch patterns seem to attach themselves to the boundary lines; beyond normal "associativity". Erasing the hatch pattern now seems to occasionally erase the lines that enclosed the hatched area.

    Is this intended behaviour?

On the Selection Tab of the Options dialog, is Associative Hatch checked or unchecked? It sounds like you have this box checked

This is the first time in fifteen years I've seen it do this. In the past I've had hatch patterns be associative, but they've never before taken over the linework enclosing them.
Am I misunderstanding this option? I do what hatch to be associateve when it can be.

It might have something to do with pickstyle, as hatching (associative, I think) behaves quite differently depending on whether pickstyle is 0, 1, or 2.

the check box in the options dialog is different than having associative hatch selected in the hatch dialog box. We have the box in options unchecked and the box in the hatch dialog checked and it works perfectly fine, boundaries stay separate, if the boundary is modified, the hatch is modified, no hostile take overs.
