Default Why does my profile have UV grids?

I've created a simple 2x10 profile for a floor edge and on every view, the surface is divided in UV grids???
the profile was created from a "Hosted Profile". Simple 4 lines closing a box
It was applied to the floor using the "slab edge" tool.

    What am I doing wrong?

Is there a surface/projection pattern associated with the material you've assigned to the 2x10?
