    Angry Projectwise Problems

If anyone has had the 'joy' of working with projectwise or andy of Bentley's AutoCAD integrated products then you can probably relate to my pain.....Their persistence in popping the ribbon bar open at AutoCAD stratup is maddening, it seems they have never considered that the reason that the user closed the bar in the first place was that they didn't want it to open.

So I went where to the where applications netload in the registry and removed what seemed to be doing it and now I find that some lisp function is being called from who knows where issuing a command line netloading of the dll I just took out of the registry.....GRRRRR!

Does anyone know how I can stop the ribbonbar from loading even with projectwise integration...or know how I can find out where the netload command is being called from?

I realize that this is a bit ranty, and truth be told I'm not sure that it's this dll that is causing the problem, however support, community support and general craftsmanship of Bentley products is so lousy with that it's hard not to get frustrated from time to time. So this is half a question and half a warning.

End Rant....I do feel better now.

I have also had the "Joy" of working with Projectwise. So what i ended up doing was "deintergrating" (modify the install) from Civil 3D and using the external explorer for all the management tasks. Unfortunately that does not solve all problems as it likes to occasionally lock up when checking in drawings, so i had a seperate install of straight AutoCAD that i left integrated to deal with that just issue. But all in all, good idea, horrible horrible implementation with autodesk products.

Bentley products can be something of a rats-nest of implementation. As well as the demand-load setting for DLLs, check for: an Acad.RX file; acad.lsp/acaddoc.lsp files with instructions for menu loading; MNL files associated with the CUI(x) files with instructions for menu loading; script files... Just keep in mind that DLL which gets loaded may contain other methods and classes necessary for proper functioning, and if they are bundled together you might have to choose between having the annoying Ribbon modifications or not using the product.

    Hi AUGI Addict,
I only noticed this thread after I wrote to you about my issues with PW. I apologize for rephrasing the question I sent before: How can I make PW read surface files? So far, PW only shows me proxy frames.

I am thankful for your time into this matter.
