Default Most users per central file?

Whoa, did we hit a wall. I feel like im doing the crab walk in 10' deep mud.
I know revit is painfully slow to begin with, but this is unusual.
It is taking me near 1 minute to copy text...yep good ole dumb text.

If we have 5 users in the central file we are good, but the minute the 6th person enters...revit will shart itself.
So far we have been celebrating shart week.

We have no issue with our server.
Any switch that connects to the main switch has a minimum of a 2 GB connection.
    Windows 2008 R2 server
HP MSA 2010 storage with a 10GB connection to the backbone.

    CPU Specs
3.7 turbo quad dual 8 core
Zeon E3 i7 extreme liquid cooled.
    2GB video radeon 6950
    16 GB 1866 memory
    850 watt power
    160GB SSD
    1 TB additional drive.
    Asus Specialized motherboard

    Our server is sick!
    My CPU is sick!

    revit is (literally sick)

    Sooo...
Has anyone else noticed a slowdown with the amount of local copies per session?
What is the most amount of users you have had modeling simultaneously in their respective locals?

    PS.

    Our model size =111MB
    Total including links 700MB

Our network and computer specs aren't as good as yours and we haven't experienced any troubles with our latest project. We are running 3-4 users in the mechanical file and about the same in the architectural file. Mechanical file is 161 mb and total model including links is 900+. It's certainly slower than a brand new project but once you open a view, everything is pretty quick. If I can get some time to test it out, I'll have some extra people get into the file to see how it runs. I know I had some issues when I got low on disk drive space (under 1GB) but I highly doubt that's your problem.

We have a 170MB model (420MB with all links) that seems to be rather moody. Sometimes it's fast, sometimes it's slow. It can be slow with 6-7 users working on local files or it can be fast with 6-7 users working on local files. I have NOT been able to pin-point the source of our frustration. I'm thinking it's something in the architect's model(s) because we have another job that is probably close to 750MB with ~20 RVTs/DWGs linked in (it's a massive hospital/parking garage joint venture with 2 archies and another MEP firm) and that job doesn't have the same, we'll call them "mood swings" as the 420MB project.

As for our network specs, I couldn't tell you. IT doesn't freely give out info like that for whatever reason.... *shrugs*
