Default Void won't cut generic model

This whole thing with voids and cutting is driving me nuts. I have a line based generic model loaded in my project. I have "Cut with Voids When Loaded" checked. Then I load my void into project and place it. The void does not cut the generic model automatically, so I try using "cut", but that doesn't work either. What am I doing wrong? I have nothing but problems whenever I try to remove material. HELP!

Default Re: Void won't cut generic model

To obtain the automatic cut, create a face based family, with a void; in the family, cut the sample slab with the void, using Cut Geometry. This will "pre-cut" the void from the future host. Then, load the family into a project, place the family on the face of the generic model, and it will cut the volume automatically.
