Post Linked project always goes to Level 1

I have a typical unit plan .rvt that needs to be linked to central.rvt where it occurs at several levels. I could easily place, move or copy them to the levels I want.
and I could schedule just about everything I want from that link to my central. Only one problem, I could not sort them by Level, because those link units and everything in it all show up as Level 1 in the schedule, even though I inserted them in, say, Level 5.
Anyone find a workaround or am I missing something?

Check that element's instance properties. Level might not be automatically assigned. I have found this is the case with face based families as well.
