Max doesn't like dashed linetypes. It will interpolate them as a solid line on import. Still some progress to be made on ACAD importing to Max, but it is MUCH better than even a few years ago...

Well anyhow i feel this is not true there should be some solution to this because bot products are from Autodesk.

I guess I need to expand further. Max is not AutoCAD. It's purpose it for creating 3D models and output of image or 3D for use in another 3D software (i.e UDK). Dashed polylines are not really useful in 3D renderings. If you are looking to create, say, dashed stripes for a roadway, there are ways to do create them without having to use dashed lines.

Keep in mind both products come from very different backgrounds. Years ago Autodesk bought Discreet, which was then the developer of Max, and the software builds were barely compatible for imports. They are making strides with each release to make each Autodesk software compatible with the others. But it's a huge endeavor to get them to sync up completely.

I totally understand your frustration. I import ACAD data for each project and spend a lot of time cleaning up polylines and geometry into a useful format. Some of it is how it was created and some the import from another software.
