Unhappy Underlay RCP and Underlay Orientation

I'm trying to do something very simple, show the underlay of another level as either a plan or an RCP. I remember this feature working flawlessly, but it doesn't seem to work for me right now. I'm using and "Electrical" discipline and "Lighting" Sub-discipline

I was wondering if you can change the range of the Overlay? If not, where does it get the information for the cut plane, height distance, etc? I may need to change the range so that it shows fixtures above default ranges.

Also, when I switch the Overlay Orientation, it changes my whole drawing's orientation to RCP.... That's not very impressive.

If anyone has overcome the seemingly simple hurdles, I would appreciate any tips. Thanks! (Using Revit 2012)
