I'm in new territory here, so any help is much appreciated.
I am working on a project near an airport. So close in fact, that we have height restrictions that must be considered in our design. The FAA publishes an "Airport Diagram" that gives me enough information to draw the airport runways. My problem is locating them correctly on mother earth in Revit. What looks possible is to put an image underlay from Google satellite map underneath my site plan and trace the runways, correcting them later according to the FAA information I already have. Accuracy is also an issue.
To insert an image for tracing, I need it full size. I don't know how to get that from Google. I have seen site plans at the Revit user group where existing buildings were shown and outlined, and a blog I read said it can be done, but neglected to mention how. We will probably be in direct contact with the airport management at some point, but it is way too early in the process to involve them.
Anyone have any advice?
