    Default New Room Finish Tool

After some training this morning our group asked if they could just simply click on a Room Finish Tool (walls, floors, ceilings?) and be able to introduce patterns (floor or wall tile) or other materials on walls, wallpaper etc, without having to create a new wall or floor type in the process.

It would be as easy to use as the current ceiling tool. Just right click on a room pick a tile size lets say 12 x 12 and OK. You would also be able to click on one of the lines like the ceiling grid and rotate and move to your hearts content.

It would be scheduled and quantitfied.

You would slao be able to edit this shape like a ceiling or floor so you could have multiple finishes on the same walls or floors.

Right now you have to create a new floor finish draw it or pick it, go thru a bunch of dialogue boxes (a min. of 4 OK's) just to see if this is what you want.

There could be a type pulldown like walls and floors so evryting would be very Revitlike.

    Split Face tool

    Paint tool

Using these two will enable you to define an area and just paint a material onto it. Useful if you have a plastered wall but wnat to show two colours on it or want to split brickwork detail bands and so on. You can use it to show a flat perimeter ceiling tile and a tegular edge central area or to define different carpet patterns or colours. The two tools aren't room specific so you do need to define the areas you want to play with but they are very straight forward.

The split tool/paint bucket is poor at best and it takes a long time to do what I want. Add to the fact that you can't overaly it, copy it, set it to an edge so it always leaves a gap between what you are working on. It is really a slow tool only used very sparingly.

What I'm after is speed, speed, speed. Quantitative and schedulable. Everyone in my office likes my approach better.

You're right, being able to schedule from it would be good.

I don't find it slow or tedious though.
