All text missing, when opening AC2012

I haven't been able to find a similar thread on this question, so I'll go ahead and ask myself.

Many of our users are experiencing a loss of text when they open AutoCAD 2012. Now technically its not a huge deal because if you close and reopen the program everything is back to normal. However, it can be annoying for the poor souls that haven't gotten a computer upgrade and it takes awhile for them to go through the close reopen process.
Of course my first thought was layers, but that wan't the case as reopening fixes it. Also it has nothing to do with which drawing is opened(i.e. legacy is not the problem).
Anyway, it seems to be a glitch in the software (maybe in our setup?). Has anyone experienced this?

Also just to note it seems to only happen when you first open AutoCAD, whether that be first thing in the morning or reopening later in the day after a break from it.

Sounds like some graphics initiation bug, have you tried upgrading your graphics driver to the latest certified version (as per Adesk site, not latest of manufacturer). Alternatively, try turning Hardware Acceleration ON/OFF - some graphics cards have issues when on, while others seem to perform better in such case.

Well, we've been through that drill before and we have different machines and cards, so I'm not sure that is it. Plus, it seems to only have started when we switched from 09 to 12. Thanks though.

You say all text, so even it when it is text, mtext, block attributes, table data, fields?

My first instinct would be as irneb suggested, that it was a graphics card issue, but if your workstations are not identical that would be a bit harder to accept.

I am not aware of any single variable within autocad that would hide all types of text. There are a couple like ATTDISP, but, that would only affect block attributes, and there is also QTEXT to show rectangles in the place of text.

From the OP it doesn't seem to be a setting issue. Seeing as a consecutive open solves the text display problem.

But the various hardware having the same problem does tend to show that it's not a graphics card issue. Could it be something to do with the font? Perhaps if you're using TTF fonts with some bug in them or too complex. Is it always all text? Or only some fonts, or perhaps text at angles / stretch justified / width factor not = 1.0 / on a different UCS than the view? Just trying to think of any other possibility.

We used to use Eagle Point to create Plan & Profile and Cross Section sheets for Civil 3D drawings. There were usually a handfull of layers and Text objects added by Eagle Point that would not show or plot untill I closed and reopened AutoCAD.

Are you running any add-on software in AutoCAD?

We aren't using strange fonts. It was romans until we switched to Arial to match our Revit jobs. Yes it is all text. The add-ons we are using are Autotable, AutoWord, Table Builder and Acroplot. However, there is one rogue user using Cadet software. Would any of these cause issues?
