Is there a way to change the size of a symbol that has been inserted? Without changing the scale of the drawing?

I would generally use the SCALE command on the object itself, unless I'm missing the point of your question.

The symbol itself is imported like a point so I can't use the Scale command.
I'm not sure I understand.
Is there any way you could post it?

Wblock out the symbol you're talking about from the drawing, and post it here. the only way to be sure we are all talking about the same thing is to see it

Rachel,
I got it figured out. It is a point style associated with the drawing. Go into Tool Space and Settings and Point Styles and change the marker size.
