Adding a Funtion to a wall

does anyone know how to open a wall and add a function to it? ie interior, exterior, foundation ? I'm trying to export cad and this seems to be the only way to set different walls to their own layer when exporting.

I may not be clear on what exactly your asking but if you go to the walls Type properties there is a place to set the function. I hope this is what your asking for.
