Default splines appear jagged on start up?!

I have a 2-D drawing I've been working on that consists of hundreds of spline lines.the file consists of multiple versions of a design. Sometimes when I open up the file the lines are smooth curves like they are supposed to be but sometimes when I open the file the lines appear jagged as shown by the first picture.

I can remedy individual lines by clicking on the line and choosing "show fit points". When I do this the line converts back to its original smooth shape and shows the fit points I used to create the line. The next picture illustrates that..

I'm guessing that when I save and close and reopen my file AutoCAD is simplifying the file in some way. Is there a way to convert all of the lines back to their smooth form without individually clicking on each one?

    thanks in advance,

What happens if you use the command "regenall"?
That should fix it I would imagine..
