Default SDI Command at the promt

When selecting DWG files using Windows Explorer, each selection opens a new AutoCad application. The cure for this is to alter the SDI value at the Command line from <1> to <0>.
Can anyone give me a little more info on what the SDI setting controls/adjusts.

Single Document Interface. When set to 1, only 1 drawing can be open in a sessions. turning OFF SDI, by setting to zero, enables Acad to run in MDI, Multiple document Interface. It's basically a legacy setting, dating back to DOS days. I am suprised that your LT defaults to 1, since the whole point of that was to support older/not updated add-ons and customization.

Many thanks - one of the guys has had a new computer and the subsequent re-install of AutoCad for some reason set this default position to <1>.
