    Default Electrical Object Style issues

    Hello,

I am having issues with the object style settings for some of my electrical fixtures, in particular, my receptacles. For some reason they are not taking on the properties set forth in the object styles. I need them to print a heavy line weight as defined in the object styles, however, in plan view the devices do not take on these properties. If I use a graphical override by category in my v/g settings, it does not work either. However, in a section or 3D view, the object styles work. How come they aren't applying in plan view?

That's because in plan view, your electrical fixtures are not actually shown. They are instead represented by an embedded Generic Annotation family, which is the annotative schematic symbol. In order to control the appearance of these through Object Styles, you have to go to the Annotations tab, and then to the Generic Annotations Category.

Note: If you want devices from different disciplines (i.e., blue receptacles vs. green light switches) on the same view, then you will have either create View Filters or edit the embedded annotation family and add the lines to a subcategory.

Not stupid at all. Logically, You would think that the annotation would follow the appearance of the category its host family belongs to.
