Family Category and Parameters can Additional ones be added

Can you add in additional family category and parameters to a project. currently you have some set up, but I would like to add in for example Graphics, Plumbing accessories, etc... If I can do this I can tag them without using tags from that do not really make sense (for graphics and signage, using generic models. Plumbing accessories(hand dryer, mirror etc...), instead of plumbing fixtures (toilet sink etc...)

Subcategories yes. New categories - no.

how do you add a subcatagory? and will it tag diferently than the other one in the main category. thanks for the help aaron

You need a couple of things. You can add a subcategory when you make the family. Under Setting->Object Styles. This can be used to control visibility.

To filter for scheduling you'll need a shared parameter in the family. Start with the help file (this is what I would consider a "power user" topic.)

I am pretty good at shared parameters, but I was hoping for a little more control. I guess that is why they have a multi-category, and a general family type. I still feel you should be able to add a parameter in a family and it will add it in the Family Category and Parameters list. just my two cents worth.
