I'm not an LT user, but does your package include Sheet Set Manager? If so, you can use SSM Properties and Fields

With one drawing set we have, we turned the text that would change into an External Reference and inserted it into each of the drawing files. Once we were done with the project, it was bound (using Insert as block).

There are several different ways to do what you're asking, as others have mentioned. Sheet sets won't work for your software version, but there are ways to get fields set up (you may need to resort to getting someone with a full version to put them in for you, and once set up they should update fine on your system). However, the easiest approach probably depends on your exact setup; would it be possible for you to attach your files here? If necessary, you can delete / edit any information that can't be shared.

Maybe I'm missing something in translation, but why wouldn't a set of custom fields work here? It might require modifying the title blocks if that's where the drawing numbers and dates, etc are, but this is what I generally use for any content that needs to show up in multiple locations.

Every tried setting that up in AutoCAD LT, which doesn't support inserting fields in text and attributes?

[Technically, most can be "jurryrigged" to work using diesel expressions, but I'm not sure if that can be done for a custom field.]

Well, obviously that was what I was missing! I started with 2004 LT and simply forgot that Fields didn't show up as a supported feature until 2009.

    My bad.

I had not been aware of that, but thanks for pointing it out! May come in handy if I convince our part-time subcontractor to get 2011...
