stick with 2012 then. wait for a faster video card before you upgrade.
Yes indeed, i couldn’t agree with you more. They really suck these days about actually producing a consumer product for industry. All they are interested in is wanking on about how great they are at adding this and that rather than making the software actually work well. Draw order and hatching comes to mind. I honestly believe they are walking a dangerous path, as other developers know this, and if newer more stable and people/industry friendly software becomes available i will certainly consider if. I’m getting really sick of Autodesk and their snobbish "we don’t give a **** about the user" attitude.
Another stupid omission of ADesk: http://forums.augi.com/showthread.ph...ing-a-DWG-file
And note their competition already has such feature included, and without having such slow execution. It seems as if ADesk is running into a situation where they might be getting too large for their own good (never mind their users good). They're actually becomeing such a burocracy that they're slowly crawling forward and their competition is gaining. If it goes on like this, I can't see them staying at the top for very much longer.

Some simple things to try speeding up 2013 are:
purgeall
turn off lineweight toggle
delete anything unnecessary
try turning layers off
copy the drawing to a new file
work on small portions in different files then add them togther
...(that's probably my best trick)
That's all good and fine. But why would you suddenly need to clean & split all your DWGs which ran perfectly speedy in (say) 2008 just because you're now opening them in 2013?
One thing which I've still got an issue with (and this came sine 2009) is the layer palette. I doesn't just slow down your drawing, it also causes you to sometimes be unable to change the selection's layer. So I prefer turning it off using LayerDlgMode. But the worst of all is the disgustingly slow hatching while the ribbon is open (fortunately now HpDlgMode fixes that piece of CR@P).
The issue in this thread is that ADesk adds all these "new" features which are nothing more than cosmetics, but in the process they compromise the actual performance of the program itself. So it's a situation of making it look nicer but work worse than before. Most of the clones go about this the other way round, they tend to look like an old ACad but work a lot quicker with more "useful" / user-friendly tools, i.e. focus on function over form as opposed to ADesk's form and NO function.
