Railing schedule: no filter by type?!

I'm trying to find the total length of glass balustrade in my project. When I create a railing schedule, it won't let me filter by type. Why not and what other ways can people think of to do this?

Add a type comment to each railing type, and then filter the schedule by type comments.

Thank you. I gave it a try and it works just fine. I have to say, that's pretty lame that I can't filter by type.
