XREF Objects on Layer 0 won't display liinetypes in drawing

I have an Xref with some objects on layer 0, In my drawing when I place the Xref on any layer the color is correct but the linetypes only show as continuous. This happens regardless of the layer or linetype I choose
Everything is set to by layer
the Xref and the drawing are set to the same Linetype scale (not sure if this matters)

any ideas?

I have similar issues where we have drawings from other firms. The issue is acad.lin and acadiso.lin. I fixed mine by going to all the drawings from other firm and command linetype / locate acad.lin / select all the linetypes and reloading all of it, if it still not showing the right linetype you need to re-attached xref. If you need to do these on numbers of drawing I think having an lsp would be a great help. Also, custom linetype is another issue.

The objects within the XREF should be ByLayer to show the Layer's linetype, or ByObject to be able to set its own linetype. It cant be "Continous" or any other linetype otherwise it will always be Continous no matter what you set in the drawing where it is referenced.

If that doesn't solve the problem, an LTSCALE/PSLTSCALE issue maybe?
or
Play with the MEASUREMENT value, then reload linetypes.

Okay, I figured it out, When I did a Layer Merge from the consultants layers to Layer 0, The consultant had changed the properties of their layer so nothing was set ByLayer
Quick fix, sorry for the oversight, I should have caught this in the beginning,

In order to address this, I'm waiting for Autodesk to add a 'corporal punishment' add-on... it'll reach out of the monitor and smack silly anyone who tries to change something from ByLayer.
