Default Automatic zoom extents after inserting/modifying an AEC object.

In some drawings started in regular AutoCAD (not using an MEP template,) everytime an AEC oject is inserted or modified in model space, the software does a zoom extents at the end of the command. I've looked for a system variable but nothing seems to have an effect. Any advice is greatly appreciated.
