Default refedit forces points to be re-numbered, merged or overwritten

Using 2012 C3D. I map all the underground utilities at a University. The drawings are 'projects' that will never close or end. I've been working on them for over 13 years. I have over 19,000 points in my electric drawing, and 13,000 points in gas. There are 8 utility maps for campus each with their own set of points. In previous versions ( I jumped from 2009 LDD Compainion to 2012 C3D) when I had the drawings x-ref'd together I could use refedit to make changes quite often. It never effected the points, maybe because they were stored in a project file. However, in 2012 C3D, as soon as you enter refedit, the warning window comes up asking you to re-number, merge or overwrite your points. There is no cancel to this command once you get the window. The points need to be kept seperate in their respective drawings and not changed at all. Does anyone else run into this issue when using refedit between two drawings with points? I have had 5000 points wiped out due to this new software. Is refedit a useless command now in C3D 2012 when points are present?

    Thank you for your help.

Refedit should not be used with C3D drawings, use "Open Xref" instead. Unlike LDT, C3D has no problems opening multiple drawings in the same session.
