    Default Expanded calculation through attributes.

I work for a catering company that makes and supplies commercial kitchen equipment. As part of that we design service schedules that detail all the electrical and gas requirements. We are currently gearing up for a move into a more BIM styled process, which includes embedding data into our blocks.

I was wondering if it's possible using attributes to make Autocad export or display the total requirement based on the embedded data in blocks.

For example, if I had a 2No blocks of 10kw ovens and 3No blocks of 15kw fryers I would like an easy to use system that will tell me the total is 65kw overall. Is this possible? Also how flexible a system can this be? Could it also be used to calculate specific blocks as a selection instead of separately or all. This is all in an effort to speed up service calculations.

Use the "Export Attributes" in the Express tools. I've made a macro that turns off all the other layers of things I don't need to and then asks me to select what I want to export. I sort it all out after in Excel.

For a more complex solution, using AutoCAD MEP, see my thread here.
