    Default Component Stair Stringer Extension

We're trying to rework our stair library to leverage the Revit 2013 Stair Components. I think I've found one hitch that I can't seem to get around. We're creating a concrete metal pan stair with C-Channel stringers. That stringer should extend several inches beyond the first riser for constructability. With stairs by sketch you can easily extend the boundary line to modify the length of the stringer. I can still do this in Revit 2013, but have found a hitch when converting a component-based stair to a sketch. After converting it to a sketched stair, I can extend the boundary, but it doesn't produce any results. I'm not sure if anybody else has started to rebuild their stair library, but let me know if any of you have run into the same issue.2013 Stair Extension.PNG

...and why are you redoing your stair library? I still don't see the strength of this new method for doing stairs; instead, I have read some reports of things that the sketch method can do, but this new method cannot, like another issue about balusters, in another thread in this forum.

The new component tools definitely add some more functionality. We want to get rid of the workarounds and leverage the modeling tools instead of drafting what's really needed. The strange piece is that when converting a stair run from component base to sketch, the stair tools don't work the same as the regular sketch mode.

Did you have any luck getting this to work? Did you send any kind of support ticket into Autodesk?

No luck with this specific case. From my understanding, Autodesk is working on finishing the stairs and railing functionality/featureset for 2014.

"Finishing" it, oh great. Probably means we won't have any other cool new features or much-needed fixes and improvements to other stuff *cough* site! *cough*

'course I wouldn't know as I wasn't invited to alpha or beta test like I was for 2012 and 2013, for some reason.

I did open a support ticket with Autodesk and was informed that:
The application is working as designed. Stair by component will not behave as you want it to. Development added stair by sketch to allow this type of editing.
    Instead I am to:
Please provide feedback at the below link. Information gathered is used to improve the application.

Me either. I wonder if they are shifting the testers to users who just think everything is awesome.

Emailed the guy at ADSK who had sent me the invitation in previous years. He said they're doing Alpha testing with a smaller group of people and then will be sending out invitation soon for Beta testing to more people. Still seems odd as I tested the Alpha versions as well for both 2012 and 2013.
