Default Are you using Coordination Review?

Looking for opinions from people who are comfortable with Revit. Do you regularly use Coordination Review and find it useful?

Seems like it's more trouble than it's worth - inefficient and confusing. but I'm trying to figure out if that's because I have not mastered it, or because it sucks (like the text editor).

What are you trying to do with Coordination Review?

The intended use is for items that you've tagged as Copy/Monitor(ed) so that you can tell if something in your linked file(s) has changed.

Structurally, in my office, we only Copy/Monitor levels and grids. If the architect moves a level, we get a Coordination Review warning. I can view the warning(s) and see if I agree with the move and update my level if needed.

If the architect adds levels or grids, they are going to have to communicate that with me so that I can Copy/Monitor the new items.

For just levels and grids, it seems pretty easy to visually check those manually (and then you'll see the new grids too). CR works, but seems unnecessary for just those elements unless your working on a very large project.
I'm wondering if anyone is successfully using it to its "full potential" to catch revisions to grids, levels, columns, walls, etc. If the architect moves a door opening over 12", theoretically I can use CR to catch it and update my structural walls (for example). But I'm finding the review process too cumbersome and the information it gives too vague to be effective.

I think that there is a minimum of coordination review that is essential to the successful implementation of REVIT in an office.

As Izaras said, levels and grids should definitly be copy monitored, so that these large changes in the architectural model do not leave all of your equipment floating out in space.
The Plumbing department also uses coordination review. Copy/Monitoring the plumbing fixtures they are tying into allows them to always be informed when some of their system may need to be revised to match an updated model.

In some ways it is necessary, I dont' know how you would keep track of all this information without it being automated by REVIT.

You say you find it cumbersome, but my experience has been very simple, all I ever have to do is open the Coordination Review, Agree to the changes that have been made one at a time (which in itself is useful becuase you get a quick overview of what will be different) and then click ok. Fast, easy, efficient. What has your experience been like?
