PATTERNS IN SECTION VIEWS

How do i get a pattern to show up on a generic profile? I have set materials to concrete in the profile family, it doesnt show. I have set graphics override in project, it doesnt show. I have nothing but the profile showing with a black filled region. How do I do this?

That is not a profile family, but a detail item. Create a filled region with the same shape, edit the type properties of the region, choose a drafting pattern.
