Angry AutoCAD 2013 - Autosave Tooooo Sloooooooow

I am working currently on a 3D model of a building - File size is less than 10MB
Each time AutoCAD performs an Autosave (Every 20 mins) the programs locks for about 5 mins.

How can I remedy this problem?

I have cleared my cache in every possible place.
I have also recently upgraded from 2012 - With exactly the same set-up - I did not have this problem on 2012.

    Please help!!!!

do you have maintain visual fidelity and maintain drawing size compatibility unchecked in the open and save tab of the options dialog box? if not, uncheck them and see if it increases the speed of your autosaves.

Presuming that you did a mosttly default instalaltion for 2013, the cloud and content explorer crud is hogging resources on your machine. I'll suggest that you eliminate both of them, uninstall as required. I'll also recommend going to the Manusoft web site, and get a copy of Owen's tool for removing the Communications Center. That's another unnecessary drain on your PC's computing and network resources.

What was the name of the Owen's tool that you got from Manusoft (I assume you went to www.manusoft.com)

The content explorer is a two-part add-on, installed by default. It consists of a service that runs as a background process to index all the files on your system, and an 'explorer' componenet that runs within Acad to search against the index created by the service. The indexing service runs at a fairly low priority, and as the user you have almost no ability to manage it, determine when/how it runs, etc. basically it continuously crawls through your file system, looking at t=files, and cataloging information about those files, from the date of a jpeg file to the text content of a dwg file.

I don't have r2013 running here at work ( and unistalled it from my home setup) but IIRC the contenet explorer service can be uninstalled from Windows Control Panel.

Adesk 360 CLoud basically is a service that lets you keep various acad settings and drawings somewhere on the internet, under Adesk control. Potentially useful, but...... the terms of service render it unusable for any employee of a publicly held corporation, and extremely risky for any one else. After reading the ToS, my conclusion is that using Adesk cloud services is a great way to get fired for cause, and open yourself up to lawsuits from your customers, clients, and partners.

As far as what happens after you remove the content explorer service --- your machine runs a bit faster since it's not spending resources on the indexer, and you'll no longer be able to use the Content Explorer in Acad to search. small loss, since Design Center is much more usable. Killing the Communications Center likewise helpss your machine run better, since no resources are being spent on the constant back and forth across the internet and phoning home CommCenter indulges in.

Removing Cloud services just means that you can't use Adesk 360. An even smaller loss, since you're more likely to _not_ get fired.
