    Default Cannot attach xref

    I cannot attach an xref, command line says

    "Command: _xattach
    Attach Xref "BasePlan2": ..\..\..\Documents\BRAZZO SHOP\Xrefs\BasePlan2.dwg
    "BasePlan2.dwg" cannot be found.
    *Invalid*


    yet it shows up in the preview? my path is correct. i can insert it as a block of i want, i can open it upseparatedly, but no attach

    Can you attach other dwgs? Perhaps that one is corrupted? Try doing a recover on it.

    What's the real path for the xref? from the drive letter to the .dwg extension. And what's the real path to the drawing you are trying to reference it into? Again, from drive letter to .dwg extension. You're showing a relative path -- possible that does not match the actual relative path from dwg to xref.

    If you go into the X-ref dialogue box click on the x-ref and then click the 'found at' box and browse to the correct location you may solve your problem this often happens me when others decide to change the name of a parent folder.
    Make sure you run a purge beforehand to remove any instances of a block of this x-ref.

    The preview is not a live shot of the file, it's an image created the last time someone had the file open, working, and saved.

    Can you use OPEN command to access the Xref? PURGE, AUDIT (answer yes to fix errors), PURGE again, then SAVE in the correct DWG format you need. Try reattaching it again.
