Should I use revit server or VPN/Remote Desktop

Any solution will do, I guess. The goal is to have two companies being able to work on the same workshared file. Cost is of essence, obviously, but no point on having a cheap, worthless solution.

Which will be a workable solution, in your opinion.

I have been looking at some BIM cloud services as well.

Revit Server is the most affordable, and viable solution. However, the cost is experience supporting Revit Server, and IT support. BIMcloud solutions can be easier to implement, but costlier. In the middle is Remote Desktop which is the cheapest, but may put the most burden on the IT support.
