    Default linetype question

Is there a way for a pipe to have a certain linetype (ex. centerline, dashed) when viewing in coarse and medium level detail but remain solid in fine detail? I don't want my pipe to have a linetype when I'm viewing it in 3d.

Also, can you create a linetype that includes text, again, that is only viewable in coarse and medium level detail but remain solid in fine detail?

You'll not be able to set the pipe system graphics overrides to behave the way you describe. However, if you use a "drafting" view template for when you want to model in fine detail level, you can include a filter that will turn all piping to solid linetype. In the filter just include all "Pipes" and "Pipe Placeholders" and filter by "(none)". Then add that filter to your view template and set the linetype override to solid.

As for your second question I don't believe Revit allows text in a linetype.

The only way you can make a line type have text is by creating a simple but parametric line based family. Although it works similar to a generic annotation family it cannot be assigned to objects as a line style.

If I've uploaded the *.docx file correctly, it will give you instructions on how to do it. I beleive that you may have to do a different linetype for each scale at which you plot.
