Thread: Can't Copy & Paste?

    Default Can't Copy & Paste?

Last week we just switched all of our computers over to windows 7 and a new server. I had to uninstall AutoCAD LT 2009 (along with solidworks ect..) to install the new windows 7. Everything swapped over smoothly and installed correctly except for autoCAD. It seems everyonce and awhile when I try and copy a few objects, It will recongnize the objects and copy them to clipboard, but when I go to paste nothing appears? The only solution I have found is to leave it for 10 minutes and sometimes it works again, or I have to save, close down & restart my computer.

-Never had this issue with AutoCAD LT 2009 before the install of windows 7.
-Is this a install issue? or does 2009 have issues with windows 7?

    Thanks!

Could it be a throwback to this old problem?
Not probable but maybe worth looking into.

Just to be clear: LT2009 is not supported in Win7.
Now, are you using Win7 32bit or 64bit? Did you install LT2009 is some sort of "compatibility" mode?
If 'waiting 10 minutes' fixes the problem, or rebooting the PC, I doubt it's an LT2009 issue as it would be widely reported (restarting LT would fix it, not restarting the PC for example) but it may also be related to line #1 in this reply.

Just because 2009 is not "supported" on Win_7 doess not mean it will not work - just that there's no point in asking anyone at AutoDesk about any problems because they, quite understandably, will not be interested.

See here for (full) A2009 on Win_7.

Exactly, not supported means no one at Autodesk is interested: it helps to remind folks of this problem to reduce anxiety if there is no fix for a particular issue.
Thanks for restating what I wrote more clearly.

2009 versions are considered 'retired' at this point anyway, right? no-one at autodesk is going to care about any problesm, supported OS or not.

In the comments, there was a tip. Insert the dwg as an exploded block. If you are only c/p selected entities, wblock them. A few extra steps, but its faster than waiting 10 minutes.

I have this same problem with LT2012 on a windows 7 PC, thankfully without the 10 minute wait; I just have to repeat the procedure.
